Feather chime:
For the Dream Catcher, I used one of the embroidery frames hoop. The inner hood that was left I used it in this DIY project as the top frame. I attached four feathers to cotton cords of different lengths, which was easy to do.
I then added terracotta beads to four suspension strings. I also took a golden lace for the central string. Initially, the idea was to have a crystal hanging as the sail. I also needed a metal o ring as the hook; This would both mean purchase, which I did not want to do unless I did not have other options. Suddenly, I remembered a keychain my friend gifted me for my little one’s first birthday. This keychain had a house-shaped wood piece with a Bible verse on it. It seems a perfect solution for the sail and the hook. I separated the o ring and the chain. I attached all the suspension threads and the central string with the sail to the o ring. Each suspension thread was then wound at an equal distance to the top ring of the chime. Therefore, alternating with the feather cords, the chime was ready.
Wall Art- Feathers in frame:
All the projects under Project 1 Zero Waste Art also intended nil purchase, but I did not have frames for the wall art. And since this art piece would be a part of another Zen zone makeover, I bought a Frame from Ikea(Ribba Frames 21 cm * 31 cm ). I then stuck two paper feathers in a manner that represents yin and yang. It’s such a great alternative to prints at no cost.

Feather gift wrapping accessory:
The act of gifting is so heartwarming; likewise, wrapping the gift is fun. But have you thought about wrapping waste once the gift is open? The wrap, the tape, and the labels/gift-wrapping accessories go into the bin or are stored with the intent of reuse, which never happens. Therefore, try as much as possible for materials such as paper and jute threads. Please ditch the plastic wraps and the plastic ribbons. It might shine in your hands, but it’s temporary and destructive to the environment. Here is the change you can adopt: I used packaging paper from an order I placed with Amazon. I looked up ways to wrap with no tape (if you have to use one, look for degradable or paper tapes). Once I completed the wrap with no tape, I wound it with jute thread and inserted a paper feather.
Watch out for more DIYs with Paper Feathers; until then, give all the above a try. “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls“. – Pablo Picasso.
